    Springboard Weekend
    17-19 April 2026

Our 2026 Springboard Weekend invites the wider Presteigne community to dive into a vibrant mix of arts events – the perfect launchpad for our Festival year.

The programme features a rich variety of performances, from the virtuoso Ukrainian bandura player and singer Galyna Grigoriadi, to a dazzling solo recital by cellist Clare O’Connell, and a recital by mezzo-soprano Lucy Gibbs and guitarist Declan Hickey, featuring music by locally born composer Jonty Watt.

Presteigne favourites The Velvet Violin play an enchanting cabaret-style evening, joined by a special line-up of musical guests. Presteigne Library will buzz with free drop-in music, while storyteller Philip Michell brings his children’s show ‘Dragon Tales’ to life with puppets, weaving Welsh myths and legends into an unforgettable experience.

The Weekend also includes engaging talks by Gavin Plumley and Welsh contemporary artist Dan Llywelyn Hall, who will discuss his book project inspired by the Court of Owain Glyndŵr. Meanwhile, Presteigne Plenty and the Community Gardeners will once again organise a plant sale in Daphne’s Yard.

As part of the Presteigne Festival’s commitment to supporting emerging talent, six early-career composers will participate in a public workshop, developing new solo cello pieces under the mentorship of Mark Boden and Clare O’Connell.

The full programme will be revealed on our website in early March; online and telephone booking opens on 17 March.
