    Support Our Programme

The Presteigne Festival is a registered charity; over 60% of the organisation’s artistic activity takes place thanks to the generosity of individual, corporate and charitable supporters who have enabled the Festival to build a distinguished reputation not only for the promotion and curation of contemporary music, but also for artistic excellence, exciting programming and some of the best-attended classical concerts anywhere in the UK.

In order to continue its programme of music commissioning, its support for gifted young artists and to develop stronger community engagement, the Festival’s financial stability is of vital importance.

There are a number of ways individuals or companies can support the Presteigne Festival –commissioning new work, funding artist residencies or sponsoring specific events within the programme. Our principal schemes are listed below, but we are open to other suggestions – please feel free to get in touch.

    The George Vass Commission Fund

The commissioning of new work from established composers and the amazing young talent at work in the UK today is among the Presteigne Festival’s highest priorities.

The George Vass Commission Fund was established in 2017 to celebrate our Artistic Director’s 60th birthday and to mark his 25th year as Artistic Director of the Festival. The fund aims to generate sufficient resources to commission major musical works. To date, it has supported commissions from composers including Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade, Michael Zev Gordon, Joseph Phibbs, Julian Philips, Lynne Plowman and Huw Watkins.

    Festival Orchestra Chair Scheme

The ‘Orchestra Chair’ scheme enables Festival supporters to sponsor individual members of Presteigne’s wonderfully talented Festival Orchestra.

Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, several chairs, including that of the orchestra leader, were sponsored in 2024. Sponsoring costs £750 for a principal player or £500 for a sub-principal string player.

Individuals or companies supporting the scheme will be afforded the same advantages as Festival Friends.

    Sponsorship

Whether your focus is on corporate social responsibility, hospitality or in stakeholder engagement, the Presteigne Festival aims to build lasting relationships through shared values and objectives.
