    Compose for Harp | 2025

    Lowri Mair Jones
    Nimble

Nimble is a piece that explores how light, quick, and brilliant the instrument can be. As a harpist, I wanted to write something that showed off the harp’s agility and sparkle – something that might even be too tricky for me to play myself!

The music plays with speed, clarity and precision, using fast patterns, changing textures and delicate touches to capture the playful energy behind the title. It’s technically demanding, but it’s meant to be fun too – a piece that challenges harpists while letting them enjoy the instrument’s range and colour.

At its heart, Nimble celebrates the harp’s ability to shine through lightness rather than power. It is about movement, brightness, and a sense of musical joy that keeps everything dancing.
