2024 Festival composer-in-residence Eleanor Alberga joins fellow composer Thomas Hyde for a conversation about her life, career and music. Initially arriving in the UK to study at the Royal Academy of Music, Alberga’s gift for composition emerged during her time working in contemporary dance. Since then, she has built an extensive body of work across many genres – her opera Letters of a Love Betrayed has drawn comparisons to Pelléas et Mélisande and Wozzeck. Her output includes three string quartets and a wealth of orchestral music – from two violin concertos to a thrilling adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and her rousing Last Night of the Proms opener, Arise Athena.
